Dear friend,

This is an urgent appeal: a serious miscarriage of justice is underway in Cambridge right now. CLAG has been blocked from reaching anyone at the Council; all our emails, containing objections, legal communications, councillor emails, are diverted to an anonymous inbox and do not reach their recipients. Worse, individual members of CLAG can no longer email the Council directly either, and their private correspondence is being redirected back to CLAG. We are exploring the violation of their data rights. That is itself a basis for judicial review, along with multiple other avenues that we have been exhausting in this very flawed repeat application. Even legal documents that by law should reach CLAG directly are not reaching CLAG. What we need from our core supporters: please email the Planning Committee, copying Democratic Services, and ask for a deferral because of serious procedural irregularities. Put it in your own words. Even one resident emailing in makes the committee pause before this scandal gets any larger than it needs to.

Or simply:

"To the Planning Committee: I ask that item 6 is deferred on account of serious procedural irregularities in the Council's treatment of objectors. The Council has already been given formal notice of this, yet these irregularities have persisted."

The committee sits tomorrow, Wednesday 7 October, at the Guildhall, Market Square. Please come if you can: our item is expected sometime from 11.30am onward.

With thanks,

The first permission is quashed. The second is frozen.

On Tuesday 20 October 2026 the High Court quashed the first approval, 25/02161/FUL, on all four grounds of our claim. The Secretary of State has frozen the permission. On 13 October she directed the Council not to grant it without her authorisation while she considers whether to call the application in, six days after the identical application 26/02109/FUL was controversially approved. If you would like to support a call in, write to us and we will tell you how.
