On Tuesday 20 October 2026 the High Court quashed the Council’s first permission for the Christ’s College library, of 7 November 2025, on all four grounds of our claim.

Our logo

The window. Our mark is a Gothic chapel window: two lights under a tracery head.

The map. A faded street map of central Cambridge shows through all the glass.

The CLAG district. In the left light, outlined in black, is the area we speak for: Christ's Lane and the streets around it, bounded by King Street, Emmanuel Road, Drummer Street, St Andrew's Street and Hobson Street, with Emmanuel Street closing the loop. It is pale red, from the red field of the City of Cambridge's coat of arms (granted 1575). This is the town part of the district.

The colleges. Christ's College is pale blue, the college's colour. Emmanuel's North Court is rose, from Emmanuel's dark blue and rose, the Boat Club colours since 1851. Both are drawn with light dashed lines inside the CLAG outline.

The Chow. In the right light, a resident's Chow Chow sits and looks across at the district: the neighbours keeping watch.

The border. A pale stone band, like the stone of the old buildings around the lane.

The first permission is quashed. The second is frozen.

On Tuesday 20 October 2026 the High Court quashed the first approval, 25/02161/FUL, on all four grounds of our claim. The Secretary of State has frozen the permission. On 13 October she directed the Council not to grant it without her authorisation while she considers whether to call the application in, six days after the identical application 26/02109/FUL was controversially approved. If you would like to support a call in, write to us and we will tell you how.
