Exhibit F3 to CLAG’s map record (23 September 2026): the view of Cambridge of 1575 by Braun and Hogenberg, and CLAG’s labelled detail of it Filed with CLAG’s map record (Annex F), for the public register of application 26/02109/FUL. The two pages below are, first, the whole view and, second, a detail of it with labels. The view is “Cantebrigia: opulentissimi Angliae Regni urbs celeberrimi nominis, ab Academiae conditore Cantabro, cognominata”, by George Braun and Frans Hogenberg, published at Cologne about 1575 in the Civitates Orbis Terrarum. The image is the Cambridge University Library’s copy, classmark Atlas.4.57.3, reproduced from the Cambridge University Digital Library under its licence (CC BY NC 4.0); the credit line on the image is the Library’s. The Library’s record says the view “depicts Cambridge from the west” and notes its close resemblance to Lyne’s map of 1574. The labels on the second page are CLAG’s readings and no part of the source; they mark the College, the gate, the line of today’s Christ’s Lane and the ground that is now Christ’s Pieces. The map record, section 2, entry 3, cites this exhibit, and the applicant’s own reading of Lyne’s map of 1574 (entry 2) applies to it. The items in this exhibit: 1. 2.
Item F3.1: the whole view, Cambridge University Library, Atlas.4.57.3 (1 page). Item F3.2: CLAG’s labelled detail of the same view, the College and the lane (1 page).

The first permission is quashed. The second is frozen.
On Tuesday 20 October 2026 the High Court quashed the first approval, 25/02161/FUL, on all four grounds of our claim. The Secretary of State has frozen the permission. On 13 October she directed the Council not to grant it without her authorisation while she considers whether to call the application in, six days after the identical application 26/02109/FUL was controversially approved. If you would like to support a call in, write to us and we will tell you how.
